A domain name is an identifier or website address that is used to locate a specific website on the Internet. It is also known as a URL (Uniform Resource Locator) and is linked to an IP (Internet Protocol) address. An IP address is like a digital address to a particular point on the Internet, which in turn is linked to a powerful computer called a web server that stores the files needed for a website to function. All domain names have extensions or suffixes, the most popular being ‘.com’.
First you must contact the domain name registrar where it was registered. Then login to your account and make the necessary request. The instructions for transferring domain names vary from one domain name registrar to the other. Be sure to contact their technical support team before making any changes to your domain name account.
You can either contact us or fill out the Request for Information form to get started. An initial consultation, via phone or e-mail, will be needed to get your website requirements. After the consultation, a proposal will be developed that will contain the project scope, site specifications, an estimated completion time, and cost. It is a good practice to check out other websites, to get ideas for features and overall layout. (See The Design Process page for more details.)
Yes, it is possible for all phases of a project to take place completely over the Internet. All information needed for a website or graphic design (web or print) project can be sent via e-mail or regular mail. At least one phone consultation is recommended to make sure all project requirements are properly documented.
Yes, we can redesign your website provided that we have the necessary access to the existing files and/or hosting server. Many websites on the Internet today contain outdated styles, outdated information and/or inconsistent navigation. It is a good practice to refresh your site at least every 1 to 2 years to update information and give viewers a new ``look and feel``.
Definitely. If you host your site with us, you can create multiple e-mail accounts that include your domain name extension. When your hosting account is activated, we will ask you for the e-mail aliases/account names that you want set up for your domain. You may use the address(es) connected with your web hosting account or we can forward any e-mail message sent to your domain address(es) to the e-mail address(es) of your choice.
No, it is not necessary to have a merchant account to sell products or services online. There are many companies that offer payment processing solutions for free or at a low cost. We will be happy to review your options and connect you with a company that best meets your e-commerce requirements.
Completion times for websites vary. The number of pages, amount of content, complex programming needed (i.e. interactive features, database connectivity, animation, etc.) among other factors determine the completion time. If there are a lot of changes made during the development process, it can slow down the production time tremendously. We ask that all verbiage is proofread/edited (proofreading and editing services available upon request for an additional fee), submitted images have excellent quality (stock photography and custom graphics available upon request - additional fees may apply), and all content is received so that your site can be launched in a timely fashion.
We take into account the number of pages, amount of content, complex programming needed (i.e. interactive features, database connectivity, animation, etc.), and estimated number of hours it will take to complete the project in order to give you a cost estimate. Please note that any changes in the scope of the project after the official proposal and cost estimate has been approved, could result in the modification of the cost estimate.
